Every day we encounter the heart-wrenching testimonies of Christians from all over the world. Today we share one from Pakistan. Our organization recently rescued 18 families from a brick kiln in Pakistan, where they were living as slaves and facing persecution.
It is the story of Bano Amin, a mother of five daughters and a son who lost her husband, who had been suffering from cancer for several years. Both Bano and her husband had been enslaved and forced to work in brick kilns since childhood, and they continued doing so even after their marriage.
Loan for Treatment
A couple of years ago Amin was diagnosed with cancer. Cancer treatment is much more expensive in countries like Pakistan. The couple borrowed PKR 500,000 from the kiln owner for the treatment, and the kiln owner even paid some of the money directly to the hospital where Amin was treated. However, he could not recover and died.
The kiln owner overextended their debt and forced the family to pay or convert to Islam. With each passing day, the pressure becomes enormous. Bano’s children also started working with their mother but were unable to work according to the demands of the kiln owner. As a result, they were beaten and tortured.
As Bano’s daughters grew up, both the owner and manager of the Kiln kept an eye on them. Their pressure increases to accept Islam or pay back the loan. Her daughters were 15, 14, 12, 10, and 8 and she was very upset. The purpose of this pressure was to take the daughters of these families for sexual pleasure. It was not easy to rescue all the families together, however, we quickly made a plan to save everyone.

In May, the owner issued an ultimatum to all Christian families in Bhatta (Kiln): pay your debts by June 1, 2023, or he would marry your daughter to a Muslim.
We Rescue them
For weeks, we worked tirelessly to rescue these families from their dire circumstances and offer them a chance at a better life. We dedicated the necessary resources to ensure they could transition to a safe environment where they could rebuild their lives and escape the horrors of slavery.
