A shadowy network known as the Legal Commission on Blasphemy Pakistan has been exposed for its sinister operations under the leadership of Rao Abdul Rahim, an advocate. This notorious group has been trapping unsuspecting youths, mainly targeting minors, into blasphemy charges for personal and financial gain. The operation has come to light through a damning report by the Special Branch of the Punjab Police.

How the Entrapment Works:
The modus operandi of this group is as manipulative as it is cruel. They create WhatsApp groups designed to lure young people into discussions about religion. Once part of these groups, the unsuspecting members are pushed into making statements that could be manipulated into blasphemy accusations. Disturbingly, the group even uses “honey traps,” employing young women to entangle these youths in compromising situations.
Once a target falls into their trap, the group orchestrates a blasphemy case against them, manipulating the country’s rigid and highly controversial blasphemy laws. These false accusations serve as a tool not only to exploit the legal system but also to extort money from the families of the accused under the threat of violence and imprisonment.
The Scale of the Operation:
The scope of this operation is staggering. According to the Special Branch of Punjab Police, hundreds of individuals have been arrested under fabricated blasphemy charges, with 400 Muslim youths currently imprisoned across the country. The pressure on these victims is intense, as the legal system is often swayed by public sentiment, leaving the accused in a difficult position.
At a press conference held at the National Press Club in Islamabad, the families of the accused, alongside Usman Waraich, a lawyer representing these families, called for the federal government to establish a transparent investigation commission immediately. They argue that such a commission is essential to uncover the truth behind these false accusations and to expose the criminal network that has thrived on these exploitative practices.
Tragic Consequences: What Needs to Be Done?
The human toll of this entrapment is significant. Five young men have already lost their lives during the legal processes initiated by this group, highlighting the extreme risks involved. These deaths underscore the urgency and the critical need for a thorough investigation into the legal, judicial, and law enforcement collaboration in these cases.
Usman Waraich and the affected families are demanding justice—not just for those who have lost their lives, but for the countless others still imprisoned on false charges. They are urging the government to launch an immediate inquiry that investigates the activities of this group and the systemic flaws in the implementation of blasphemy laws.
The blasphemy laws in Pakistan have long been criticized for their vague wording and potential for abuse. Both locally and internationally, advocacy groups have pointed to numerous instances where these laws have been used for personal gain, religious discrimination, or to settle scores. In this latest case, the abuse has become institutionalized, with entire networks built around exploiting the system for profit.
The call for a transparent investigation commission is not just about justice for the falsely accused but also about safeguarding the integrity of Pakistan’s legal system from those who would abuse it for their ends.

Statement by Farrukh Saif:
We are witnessing an alarming trend where criminal groups are manipulating Pakistan’s blasphemy laws to target vulnerable individuals, particularly young people. These groups, such as the so-called Legal Commission on Blasphemy, are trapping both Christians and Muslims in false accusations through sophisticated schemes, including online entrapment and honey traps. The government must intervene to dismantle these networks and ensure justice is served. Hundreds of innocent lives are at stake, caught in a web of corruption and religious persecution.
