A tragic incident occurred on October 31, 2024, when a young Christian girl in the prep class at ASAN PRE-CADET SCHOOL SYSTEM was sexually assaulted by the school’s cleaner. The victim, Minahil, informed her mother upon returning home that the cleaner, Hassan Ali, had taken her to a nearby garden and raped her.

The girl’s father, Samson Maish, promptly reported the crime to the police, resulting in the registration of FIR No. 2612/24 against Hassan Ali. Law enforcement acted swiftly, arresting the accused shortly after the report was filed.

Aid Organizations’ Response: The Dilemma of Competing Interests

In the aftermath of this horrific event, numerous Christian organizations have approached the affected family, offering support and assistance. However, a concerning trend has emerged as these groups appear to be competing with one another over the case.

This competition among aid organizations has raised serious concerns about the motivations behind their involvement. Critics argue that some groups may be more focused on gaining publicity and attracting donors rather than providing genuine support to the victim and her family.

The situation highlights a recurring issue in cases of persecution and abuse within minority communities. Organizations meant to provide support and seek justice for victims often find themselves vying for control over high-profile cases. This competition can lead to several negative outcomes:

• Neglect of victims’ needs
• Delayed or compromised justice
• Misallocation of resources
• Erosion of trust within the community

Child sexual abuse is a severe issue in Pakistan:

In 2023, a total of 4,213 child abuse cases were reported across Pakistan, according to the “Cruel Numbers 2023” report by Sahil, an NGO focused on child protection. This means that, on average, approximately 11 children were abused each day in Pakistan during that year.

In which 2,251 victims (53%) were girls,1,962 victims (47%) were boys123.Children aged 6-15 years were found to be most vulnerable to abuse, with more male than female victims reported in this age group. However, children as young as 0-5 years were also sexually abused.

Out of the total 4,213 reported cases: 75% were from Punjab, 13% from Sindh, 7% from Islamabad Capital Territory, 3% from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2% from Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan combined.
