This is the story of Mahjabeen Fatima, born into an Orthodox Muslim family. As a young girl studying in 8th grade, she befriended a Christian classmate named Angela, and their bond would change the course of Mahjabeen’s life forever.

Through their conversations, Angela shared with Mahjabeen the stories of Jesus from the Bible—His miracles of healing the blind and raising the dead and His teachings of forgiveness and love, even for one’s enemies. Though Mahjabeen read the Quran, she found herself unable to fully understand it, but the stories of Jesus resonated deeply within her.

The Power of the Bible:

Curious to learn more, Mahjabeen asked Angela for a Bible, but her friend warned her of the potential dangers. Nevertheless, Mahjabeen’s persistence paid off, and Angela eventually gave her a Bible. Mahjabeen began reading the Bible secretly, and its words transformed her life. She started attending church with Angela, where the pastor taught Christian values and the Bible’s teachings. Mahjabeen’s heart was opened, and she made the decision to take baptism and embrace Christianity.

Facing Persecution and Finding Refuge:

When Mahjabeen’s family discovered her newfound faith and church attendance, they beaten her and even forcibly arranged her marriage to a cousin in an attempt to steer her away from Christianity. But Mahjabeen’s commitment to Jesus was unwavering, and she made the courageous decision to flee her home.

A pastor who was mentoring her contacted our organization, ECSPE, which provided Mahjabeen with shelter and valuable support during this difficult time. She expressed her gratitude to Jesus Christ and vowed to live as a Christian for the rest of her life.

Her Testimony:

The Shepherd’s Love for His Lost Sheep:

Mahjabeen’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of Jesus and His love for all people, regardless of their background or circumstances. Like the Good Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that is lost (Luke 15:3-7), Jesus pursued Mahjabeen’s heart and brought her into His flock. Through the witness of her friend Angela and the life-changing words of the Bible, Mahjabeen encountered the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

And though she faced persecution and hardship for her newfound faith, she found refuge in the arms of her Savior and the support of His followers.

Mahjabeen’s journey reminds us that Jesus seeks out the lost and welcomes them into His fold with open arms. Join us to save those who need your help.
