As a Jew born in Ireland, it pains me to write this article, but the evidence is overwhelming of the charges in the title of this article.
The President of the country, as well as a multitude of members of the Dail (its parliament), espouse the most virulent anti-Israel bias and views.
What is also sad is that in the most recent poll, 51% of Ireland support the Palestinian cause, 29% support both sides, and only 10% support Israel’s position.
The media in Ireland is all pro-Palestinian without exception. The worst offenders are Sinn Fein, the opposition party and leader in the current opinion polls, who will probably form the next Irish government. Sinn Fein openly supports Hamas, ignores the fact that Hamas calls for Israel’s destruction, and has strongly advocated for the expelling of the Israeli ambassador. The leader of Sinn Fein did condemn the October 7th attacks on Israel, but this runs hollow as they have close contacts with Hamas and invite their representatives to speak at events in Ireland.
At the most recent Sinn Fein political conference held on November 11, 2023, about five weeks into the current war, the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid of the PLO, was invited to speak.
She was interviewed on Irish Radio and was asked three times whether she condemned Hamas’s actions on October 7th. Each time, she obfuscated the question. Listen to the interview on the link and watch the full speech she made at the Sinn Fein Ard Feis (political conference).
The content of the speech is nothing to comment on as one would expect from any PLO spokesperson but what is striking is the reception and ecstasy from the audience including the photograph media.
Sinn Fein has also invited Dr Basem Naim, Foreign Relations Minister and leader of Hamas, to speak at other events of Sinn Fein. Here is an interview he recently did on Australian Television.
The interview shows a man lying through his teeth, denying the October massacres as “Israeli propaganda.” These are the people who Sinn Fein are; they are also the political wing of the IRA terrorist organization that murdered hundreds of innocent civilians in Northern Ireland and mainland Britain between 1969 and 1990.
Today, they are Ireland’s largest political party; this is an embarrassment to the free world. Hamas’s charter is clear in that it calls for Islam to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews. Their charters state the infamous Al Bukhari quote, ” Allah’s Messenger said, ‘The hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding and the stone will cry out ‘O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.’ ” If Sinn Fein recognizes Hamas as a legitimate political organization, then we can safely assume Sinn Fein wishes to destroy Israel and replace it with a Palestinian state free of Jewish “colonists.”
Let us now expose just some of the most prominent leaders and politicians of Ireland for their Jew hate: The president of Ireland is meant to be a noncontroversial head of state similar to that of the English monarch. He is not meant to interfere in politics or air his personal views publicly. President Higgins is always desperate to show his love for the cause of Palestine and always unfairly criticizes Israel as a country that enforces ‘’collective punishment,” “breaks international law,” and “neglects the rights of Palestinians.”
Any time Israel takes defensive action or reacts to small or large-scale attacks against Israeli civilians, President Higgins mildly mentions the acts of terror but focuses adamantly on making false and misleading accusations against Israel.
The Irish media even pointed out the President’s error. At the same time, the analysts, especially Colm Brophy (Fine Gael from the ruling government coalition), Marian Harkin (Independent member of the Irish parliament), and Jack Power ( Irish Times journalist), show their anti-Israel bias as they enact the word “context” to the actions against Hamas similar to the University presidents of Harvard and University of Pennsylvania.
They talk as if Israel is breaking international law, which is a total lie, but this is the standard trop from Irish politicians ad nauseam, without evidence to prove such. In fact, the evidence is in reverse, but no Irish politician has ever condemned Hamas for their daily war crimes since they took power in Gaza in 2006.
Here is the pertinent talk show segment Did Ursula von der Leyen or President Higgins cross the line?
Now for the Daddy of them all. The most vicious Jew-hater and anti-Israel propagandist in the whole of Europe. His name is Richard Boyd Barrett. His hatred of Israel and Jews is on the level of Adolf Hitler. Here is a video of him addressing the Irish ambassador of the day at a foreign affairs committee hearing in the Irish Parliament in 2014. It is most embarrassing that a man so filled with hate can be elected in a “liberal” democratic country.
It is always interesting how these people acknowledge the holocaust which justifies his tirade of lies that in effect his idea of “peace” and ‘’Justice’’ would mean the next holocaust of the Jews.
Here is another tirade of lies made by this nut job, made on the floor of the Irish parliament:
The real history of the Israeli-Arab conflict is either ignored or revised in favor of the invented people called “Palestinians.” While Arabs may like to have an Arab state, which is now Israel, the nation of Palestine is just a myth adopted by idiots like Richard Boyd Barrett, who is no different than David Irvine, the holocaust denier, as he conveniently quotes in his attempt to be non-anti-Semitic.
The above are just samples of the anti-Israeli rhetoric and bias in Ireland. If Sinn Fein becomes the next government in Ireland, not only will the Jews be at risk in the country, but the far-left policies will have drastic economic consequences, with many international companies abandoning the country, causing massive unemployment. As the Bible says in Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those that bless you, and curse him that curse you.” Look out, Ireland, the Lord is watching.
