On September 7, a blood moon will stain the night sky, its red glow whipping memories of the prophets who spoke of the moon turning to blood before the Day of the Lord. And then, just two weeks later, a solar eclipse will darken the earth, as the Feast of Trumpets-Rosh Hashanah-reveals on the Jewish calendar.

The Feast of Trumpets has long been tied to the sounding of the shofar, to the gathering of God’s people, to resurrection hope. To those who are watching, the alignment of blood moon, solar eclipse, and holy feast feels like the whisper of prophecy come alive. Some boldly declare: This is the appointed time.
However, the big question arises: does the Bible mean a single night of a red moon, or a single day of a darkened sun? As a student of the Bible and a follower of my Lord and Savior, I believe the Bible does not explicitly limit these signs to just one night or one day.
Scripture often speaks in imagery that points to a greater reality. When Joel and John mention the moon turning to blood and the sun becoming dark, they are not necessarily describing a brief astronomical event, like a lunar or solar eclipse. Instead, these words suggest a cosmic disturbance that marks a season of judgment-a visible, undeniable sign that creation itself is trembling before the coming of the King.
In other words, the Bible doesn’t tie these prophecies to a 24-hour timeline. They could represent extended periods of upheaval, when the natural order is shaken to its core. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 24:29 that “immediately after the tribulation… the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light.” That sounds less like a passing eclipse and more like a world-shaking moment that no one can miss.
So my understanding is this: the Bible is not giving us a calendar of exact nights and days, but rather signposts of heaven and earth declaring that the end of the age is near.
Prophetic Voices and the Rapture:
The Bible tells us that the Rapture, the catching up of the saints, will be sudden, visible, and undeniable (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). Trumpets will sound, the dead in Christ will rise, and the faithful will be transformed. Prophets and teachers throughout history have searched the Scriptures, aligning feast days, celestial signs, and world events.
Some believers tie it to Daniel’s timelines, others to Revelation’s symbols, and still others to astronomical events. But here’s the key: speculation is not certainty. Jesus Himself declared:

On the second day, He separated the sky from the waters. On the third day, He gathered the waters into one place, calling them the seas, and caused the land to bring forth plants, trees, and vegetation, each yielding seeds according to their kind. Then, on the fourth day, He created the Sun and the Moon to govern day and night.
This order clearly indicates that during the creation of the world, a “day” was not a 24-hour period, because until the fourth day, there was no Sun, Moon, or stars to mark time. As Scripture reminds us, “With the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8), showing that God’s “days” of creation may represent long periods beyond human understanding. Furthermore, we know that plants and trees require sunlight for photosynthesis to grow, yet they came to life before the Sun existed. This demonstrates that it was God’s light, not the Sun, that brought life and energy to creation, proving that life itself depends on the Creator, not merely natural processes.
The miraculous order of creation—from light before the Sun, to life before the source of photosynthesis—confirms the sovereignty and power of God. Science can explain how life functions today, but the Bible explains how life began: by God’s command, perfectly timed and perfectly executed, showing that every detail of creation testifies to His wisdom and authority.

So, what if September 2025 passes and the skies remain calm? Does it mean Christ is not coming? By no means. The delay of the Lord is not denial; it is mercy.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
