Sahel Region-Africa

When Christians in the East and West are Screaming  “Free Palestine,” but in Amhara, Ethiopia, Christians are being Genocide by Muslim terrorists for not converting to Islam. Those who don’t convert face terrible outcomes like rape or murder.

Reports indicate that Islamist militants are assaulting Christian villages in Amhara, Ethiopia, compelling the conversion of Christians to Islam. After being abducted, they are taken to camps where they face torture and are forced at gunpoint to embrace Islam.

Since last decade African region of Sahel region has been under the control of Islamic Militant groups such as ISIS, al-Qaida Boko Haram, and others.

In May 2023, Martha Pobee, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Africa, emphasized at a Security Council meeting the urgent need for “resolute advances” in combating groups associated with IS, al-Qaida. The anti-terrorism force, established in 2014 and now includes Burkina Faso, Chad, Mauritania, and Niger, whereas Mali a year ago decided to withdraw.

Pobee highlighted the growing insecurity in the tri-border area. She cautioned that a lack of consensus among international partners has left the joint force without the necessary funding and support to achieve full operational autonomy, hindering its capacity to stabilize the Sahel region.

“Pobee warned that without strong international support and regional cooperation, the failure to address the situation could lead to further instability in the region.”

Now, we observe that things are spiraling out of control in this African region. Almost every day, Christians and other ethnic tribal people are facing attacks, killings, and the abduction of women by Islamic groups. Following Nigeria, the largest Christian country, these Islamic groups are now expanding their influence into Ethiopia. Without intervention by international forces, we may soon witness the mass genocide of Christians in Africa.

It is time to stand in solidarity with our Christian brothers in Africa.
